Privacy
Short version: this site sets no cookies, runs no advertising trackers and keeps no profile of you. It counts page views through a cookieless analytics beacon, and it records a click on an outbound affiliate link; both are deliberately kept minimal.
What the site itself collects
Page-view counts. Faceless Desk is a static site with no session cookie and no login. Since 8 September 2026 each page loads Cloudflare Web Analytics, a beacon that reports which page was viewed, the page it was reached from, the browser and operating system family, the country the request came from, and how long the page took to load. It sets no cookie, stores nothing in your browser, does not fingerprint your device, and does not store your IP address; the country is derived at Cloudflare's edge and the address is discarded. What we see is a count of visits per page, never a record of a person. We added it so we can tell which articles are actually read.
Beyond that beacon there are two small scripts, and both are worth describing precisely rather than leaving you to find them.
The first runs on every page. When a link to this site carries a campaign tag — you may
see ?llc= and ?llch= in the address bar after arriving from a
social post — it copies those two tags onto our outbound affiliate links, so that if
you later choose to click one, we can tell which post brought you here. It stores
nothing, sets no cookie, sends no request, and reads nothing about you or your device.
If you never click an affiliate link, it produces no record at all.
The second is the cost calculator. It does its arithmetic in your browser as you type. What you enter stays on the page: it is not sent anywhere, not stored anywhere, and gone when you leave. The page is also fully rendered without it, so with scripts disabled you still see a complete answer for a typical channel.
Our host (Cloudflare Pages) processes requests to serve the site and may keep operational logs, as any web host does. We do not receive an identifiable visitor record from that.
What happens when you click an affiliate link
Outbound affiliate links route through our own redirect service at
go.linkloom.dev before forwarding you to the destination. That redirect
records:
- a timestamp
- the referring page
- the browser user-agent string
- which link was used and where it pointed
- the campaign and channel tags described above, when the link you arrived on carried them — a post identifier, not an identifier for you
It deliberately does not record:
- your IP address
- any cookie or persistent identifier — nothing is stored in your browser
- anything that identifies you personally
We built that service ourselves specifically so we could decide what it stores, and we chose to store as little as possible. The purpose is to know which articles are useful, not who you are. A user-agent string is retained because it lets us discard automated traffic from the numbers; it is not used to build a profile.
You can always see where a link goes
Every affiliate link on this site displays its real destination domain next to the
link text before you click. If you would rather inspect a link without registering a
click, append /preview to it — that returns the destination and records
nothing.
You can also simply not use our links. Typing the vendor's address directly costs you nothing and costs us a commission; that is a fair trade and we would rather say so than hide the option.
What the destination does
Once you land on a vendor's site, you are subject to their privacy policy, not ours. Affiliate programmes typically set their own cookie to attribute a referral. We have no control over and no access to that. Check the vendor's policy if it matters to you.
Affiliate disclosure
Some links on this site earn us a commission if you subscribe, at no extra cost to you. Pages carrying commissioned links say so on the page itself. It never changes what we recommend — where a free or cheaper option wins, we say so.
Your rights
Because we do not store IP addresses, cookies or account data, we hold no record that can be traced back to an individual, and so there is generally nothing personal to access, correct or delete. If you believe we hold something about you and want it removed, get in touch and we will look and act.
Changes
If this changes — for example if we add analytics or a newsletter — this page gets updated before that happens, not after. The date at the top reflects the last change.
